The film details the events that led to the assassination of Chairman Fred Hampton of the Illinois Black Panther Party. Judas and the Black Messiah has been praised by critics and fans, earning a 96% score on Rotten Tomatoes, and we are here to add to that pool of opinions. So below is our list of what we think about the movie.

1. William Oโ€™Neal WAS NOT the bad guy

Even though it is so easy to blame William Oโ€™Neal and call him a traitor (which he is), we cannot ignore the fact that he was manipulated. At the time he was recruited by Roy Mitchell as an FBI informant, Oโ€™Neal was only 17 years old. He was desperate and didnโ€™t want to spend 5 years in federal prison. He also wanted to make some quick money being that he was jobless and his only source of income came from being a car thief. We still agree that he has no excuse for being a rat because Fred Hampton who was only 8 months older than him was engaged in positive pursuits.
