Movie Title
BECAUSE I MISS YOU – EBUBE NWAGBO, ONYII ALEX, BRYAN OKWARA Nigerian movies 2023 latest full movie
First Impression
I thought it was going to be a love story (and it was).
Plot in 20 Words
Nagging wife, Vera (Ebube Nwagbo), gets a second chance to make her husband, Christian (Bryan Okwara), love her for real this time, instead of using her to get over his heartbreak from his ex-girlfriend, Jessica (Onyii Alex).
Best Bite-Sized Moment
There was a scene where Christian was complaining about his wife to his friend, Jude (Chibuzor Iheukwumere), and his friend replied with
Chuckles or Cringes
I neither chuckled nor cringed. Maybe I cringed a little with Onyii Alex doing her usual heavy breathing act, and Bryan Okwara trying to conjure up an iota of emotion towards any of these women.
Plot Twistiness
Rating 1 to 5 (1 being predictable, 5 being mind-blowing).
I would rate the accident/selective amnesia plot twist a 3. I wasn’t expecting that angle, but the way it was handled made it a waste of a plot twist.
Feels Meter
It didn’t tug my heartstrings. Not for lack of trying though. I think the story and the direction lacked a certain je ne sais quoi to turn this film into an emotional piece.
Binge-Worthy?
I binged through it and got it over with. It was easy to finish.
Snack Pairing
I was eating my favourite type of burger in the world – akara and bread with cold zobo.
Fantasy Cast
I would love to see Ben Touitou or Eddie Watson’s take on the โChristianโ role. I think they would have given the women more than Bryan did.
One-Sentence Review
A simple romantic movie that lacks strong enough conflict to be impactful but it was still watchable.
Recommendation
Drama lovers who enjoy Nollywood would like this.
Overall Satisfaction
Movie rating scale: 1 to 10 (1 being mediocre, 10 being excellent)
I will give this movie a 4. The plot twist Introduced to save the protagonist’s marriage was cool.
