My advice when watching this series is to be patient. Episode 1 is dogwater but from Episode 2, it gets better. The music, the plot, the use of flashbacks, the suspense, the intrigue… everything begins to make sense.

Speed run through Episode 1. After you finish Episode 1, return to normal speed and watch Episodes 2 and 3.

Who I think killed Mr. Marcus

I have one person in mind:

The character that Emeka Nwagbaraocha plays. I know his character doesn’t have a name but I am sticking to it for the following reasons.

1. He is not a student but he was at a student party.
2. Layla vaguely remembers him, suggesting that he goes to parties often and roofies girls.
3. Yes, I think his character is a sexual predator.

How I think Mr. Marcus died

On his way to the toilet, he noticed that Emeka’s character was about to enter the bedroom Shalewa was in.

Mr Marcus tries to help Shalewa but gets hit in the head and dies.

Alternative prediction

Mr Marcus was a perv who tried to take advantage of Shalewa because his belt was open when he was found dead. Someone hit him in the head to save Shalewa and when he died, the person ran away.

The show wants us to think that the person is Chinasa and I would agree with them.

Red herrings

Ahmad is a red herring. Yes, he has a motive because he is in love with Layla who wouldn’t give him the time of day but I doubt he did it.

It would be too convenient.

Summary

Now to what most of you came here for, the episode summaries.

Episode 1 of ALLofUS

The episode starts with a bunch of young people in a circle talking about a body and then the scene changes to the first day of school for the term.

The main players of the story and their families are introduced

First are the twins Isaac and Ivy Ibinabo. Their mother is very demanding and expects only straight As from her twins. She also compares them in a way that breeds unhealthy competition between the kids.

Next is Layla. Her parents her divorced but unknown to her, they are dating again or should I say fuck buddies.

There is Chinasa, a new girl from a working-class single-parent home who just moved to Lagos. Compared to her mates, she is poor.

Elijah: the son of a preacher, Reverend Mike and the black sheep of his family.

Mr. Marcus: an NYSC math teacher who is a dog and a pervert. He has an age-appropriate girlfriend he is cheating on with Layla, an underaged student.

So all the cool kids are having a party at the super-rich kid, Ahmad Hassan’s home since his parents are away for the weekend.

All the students gather at his house for the party. Mr Marcus shows up and before you know it, we find out that he is dead. His body was the body all the kids formed a circle around.

Episode 2 of ALLofUS

The kids dispose of the body and have to deal with the aftermath of what happened at the party. Layla is having strange dreams about Marcus.

Chinasa is always replaying how she was the one who woke Shalewa up and Ahmad struggling to cope with the fact that the death happened in his house.

After Mr. Marcus’ body is discovered, all the students of the school are interrogated by the police in school. This is also the episode where Isaac who wasn’t present at the party learns of what happened.

Episode 3 of ALLofUS

After the police find out from Marcus’ friend that he was at the party, the police round up all the kids (present at the party) and take them for proper questioning.

Isaac embarks on some investigation of his own but is stuck because the facts don’t add up. So after getting a good talking to by the principal, Mr Obasi, Isaac interrogates the class to get the specific details of what happened.

His interrogations and thinking lead him to a conclusion – Chinasa is the murderer.

My Thoughts

It was alright. It reminds me a lot of Pretty Little Liars and How to Get Away With Murder.

I do have a problem with the editing though, there seem to be scenes missing from the narrative. An example was when Isaac was interrogating his classmates. I didn’t see Chinasa in that scene, however, when Isaac confronts Chinasa, she says “I told you I was in the toilet.”

When? When did that happen?
