The Gift Is You is a Nigerian movie about two kind and overworked individuals, Chioma and Henry.
Plot Summary
They share a mutual, Bella, who is Chioma’s housemate/best friend and Henry’s HR Manager.
Henry is going through the stress of having to cut his staff because the board is unimpressed with the revenue for that fiscal year.
Chioma on the other hand is overwhelmed with work as she is losing a tailor, Agnes, who wants to return to her village to be with her family.
One day, Bella couldn’t find her house keys so Chioma offered to help and bring the keys to her at work.
While at Chioma’s office building, something happens and she accidentally swaps the gift she got as a parting gift for Agnes with the gift Bella and her colleagues bought for Henry.
This swap leads to Chioma and Henry’s meeting. The meeting leads to a business partnership that prevents Henry from having to fire some of his staff. The partnership then sparks a romantic relationship between the two.
Henry’s mother isn’t happy with their relationship but after Henry confronts her from being miserable since his father died, his mother reevaluates her life. She also gives Henry her blessing to continue dating Chioma.
Chioma forgoes a 2-year design apprenticeship in London to be with Henry because she loves him that much.
Positives
1. The way Henry asked Chioma if she had a boyfriend was smooth.

She visited him at his office and it was a Friday. Henry then asked what she was doing for the weekend and Chioma said she had a lot of work to do. Then Henry says
Don’t tell me you don’t have time for yourself, boyfriend?
2. The scene where Bella walks in on Chioma and Henry at home.

Bella and Chioma initially lied to Henry that they weren’t friends. So when Chioma was sick, Henry came over to check how she was doing. While talking, he finds out that Bella and Chioma are best friends who live together.
Bella returns from work and sees Henry in the sitting room and immediately she says
Blood of Jesus! Father in heaven.
Henry replies
Father on earth. Come here joor!
That was so funny.
3. The way his mother excused them was cute.

She looked so awkward.
Negatives
1. The scene where Chioma recounts how she met Henry was totally different from what was shown. Her retelling was

2. Oby Titus is too young to act as Enyinna Nwigwe’s mother. They could pass for lovers on a regular day and siblings on a good day.
3. Chioma and Henry’s first kiss was offscreen. The audience gets to know about it when Chioma is doing an exposition dump on Bella.

4. A scene of what was supposed to be their second kiss happens when Henry takes Chioma to his home. However, the way the kiss — well, almost kiss since they didn’t actually kiss — happened was weird. For a guy who has kissed her before, he was acting like it was their first kiss.
The Continuity in this film was lacking.
5. The sound was bad. Sometimes you hear them clearly other times you have to raise the volume to the loudest to hear them.
Verdict
⭐⭐⭐ out 10 stars.
