Ozzy is a terrible husband who body shames his wife Kate to lose weight. He does this in the most unhinged and psychotic ways like buying her a size 8 dress when she is a size 14. Telling her that the smaller dress would motivate her to lose weight.
He also insults and belittles her for her weight, refusing to take her out to anywhere because fat women don’t need love. They need verbal abuse.
Eventually, Kate gets tired of his abuse and dumps him. She moves in with her friend Dedun. Kate also finds out that she has PCOS and her doctor, Debola, happens to be her friend from school.
While treating her PCOS, she enlists the services of a personal trainer to lose weight. Ozzy starts missing his wife and begins to spiral. As a result, he assaults Dr. Debola because he thinks Kate is “cheating” on him with the doctor.
Kate finds out that she is pregnant and her friends, Debola and Dedun help her reconcile with her detestable husband who recites the following phrases to her:
You are smart.
You are beautiful
You are sexy.
Final Thoughts
If I were to score this movie, I would give it a 3 over 10. It was an alright story but I wished there was a B-plot. I would have loved to see Aisha, Dedun and Debola’s stories, independent of Kate and Ozzy.
I think that would have made the story richer.
