My jaw was on the floor when this happened in less than a minute of starting this show.
My mouth was like this:
Who the hell went in and killed him? Who?! I don’t even think they showed us anybody.
This opening credit is clever.
Did he marry an imaginary woman? What is with this bad Photoshop?
Sorry. The woman is real.
Before I react, I feel I need to explain some things.
So there is a pair of identical twins. One is James and the other is John. James is a police officer who is married to Lucy while John is an agoraphobic germaphobe who enjoys solving and creating puzzles.
James goes missing, and Lucy suggests that John go to his office to retrieve a book James writes everything on.
John says
I don’t understand why they are thinking about going to the police station to retrieve his book. Shouldn’t their concern be to find James?
Lucy cried some tears (barely) and John was on board.
John is so… I don’t know how to put into words what I think he is. But why is this the phone he is still using?
Are you curious to know what the phone looks like?
Go on, take a look.
All hail the ancient days.
John met one of James’ colleagues and she spoke to him. He struggled to respond to her because Lucy didn’t have her on the board.
This is the board:
and this is the colleague:
All John could say was: hello…you.
There was also another strange name and face at the office: Russell Carter
while Matt Neville (James’ partner) is missing…
The Russell guy is now the new partner.
John can’t drive or park well.
What the hell is this?!
Lucy didn’t know of Russell and she couldn’t understand why James never told her about the change.
Wait.
What if James and Matt are lovers and they ran away from their wives to go be together?
Think about it.
It’s no longer in and out for John. He has to be a police officer now.
Finally a familiar face: Detective Constable Simon Evans
Another familiar face: Detective Sergeant Alice Finch.
John is struggling. He can’t look at the dead body.
The indiscriminate chatter is overwhelming John
He runs to the car to call Lucy to complain. However, while they are talking, mid-conversation he stops Lucy to say
John is about LOVE being a police officer.
Lucy finally unlocked James’ phone.
I doubt she would find anything in it.
Wow, John used puzzles to solve the murder. This woman, Sarah Gilmarsh was the killer.
Alice is speechless.
She’s trying to understand how he did it.
Even Russell doesn’t know what to say.
Russell might end up being John’s friend because he is the newest member. He is just going to be soaking up all of John’s “awesomeness”.
Unlike Alice who would probably fight him because she wants to remain Shaw’s pet (Shaw is their boss, the first face on the board).
Maybe I was wrong about the gay hypothesis. James has a photo of him and his wife in his office.
John has found the notebook Lucy sent him to get and James loved puzzles too like John.
Or at least he solved cases in a puzzle kind of way.
Why did he leave the notebook there like that before stepping out of the office?
Who wants to bet it won’t be there when he gets back?
Oh, so Simon Evans is a dork who idolized James. Hmmm…
What did I say? Alice is a teacher’s pet and the annoying kind at that.
A hater on steroids.
This is DCS Carol Shaw by the way:
What is this look?
Is there something he knows or was he expecting something? Like a greeting or snide remark?
Shaw really loves being called “ma’am”
It’s like oxygen for her lungs.
I was wrong about the book. It didn’t disappear.
It’s in his pocket.
The colleague we don’t know her name saw John struggle to drive.
She might be the first to uncover that John is not James.
Henry, James’ son has found his father’s goodbye letter.
It appears that history is repeating itself since James and John’s father left them too when they were young.
Wait… what if James went to look for their father?
The other names:
John gave himself the puzzle maker moniker, Ludwig after Ludwig van Beethoven
and he wrote out James’ whole book.
I think I’m going to like this show.
Are you going to watch this?
