I wanted to watch this show since when it came out but I held myself back because Netflix has failed me too many times:

However, I decided to watch it and talk about it once it was announced that they were getting a season 2.

So

Black Doves Episode 1

The show has barely started and three people are already dead.

That was one hell of an opener.

So the question is WHY? Why were all three of them killed?

Who is this old lady who keeps staring at Helen Webb? She is acting funny

Oh, she knows about Jason.

This guy.

And Helen Webb has been having an affair with him.

A three-month-old affair.

With how this older lady is questioning Helen, it is safe to say that they know each other.

So Helen is part of a secret organisation called the Black Doves and her affair with Jason Davies has put her at risk of exposing her true identity and the organisation.

Also, she married her husband for her job because he was a politician while she was in love with Jason Davies.

One thing they say is that he was just a civil servant. So why then was he and his friends – Maggie Jones (a jewellery store assistant) and Philip Bray (a reporter) murdered with him as well?

And it was not like he and his friends happened to be in the same place so they were collateral damage. It wasn’t that. They were all taken out at the same time in different locations. They must have known something worth killing for.

The old lady is their (Helen and Sam’s) handler. By the way, Sam is this guy.

He has been away for a while it seems.

Now we know why she married her politician husband. She is been using him to get government secrets that she gives to the Black Doves.

and it has been lucrative for the Black Doves.

Hmm, so they are an anti-UK government spy organisation?

The white-haired lady wants Sam to hunt the person who could possibly be after Helen’s life.

Helen asked her husband, Wallace Webb if he knew the civil servant i.e. Jason and he said no.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say maybe her husband was responsible for the death of her boyfriend. Maybe he got information his wife was cheating on him and he did it.

But then, how does that explain the deaths of Maggie and Philip?

Helen left her kids at home in the middle of the night to go sniff her dead boyfriend’s clothes.

I doubt these two are police officers.

Jason’s landlady told Helen that the police had come earlier to check his flat. I don’t understand why they would come over at midnight to check the flat again.

No way, these bitches killed his landlady. The woman was such a nice person.

That is psychotic. What did the woman do to you demons?

Helen sent a distress text to Reed and her location.

Sam got the message.

I guess we now know the name of the white haired lady – their handler. She is Mrs Reed.

Look at them:

Murderous bitches.

Sam responded to the distress call and he blew one of the girl’s brains off.

Look at all that blood on Helen’s face.

That is disgusting.

Sam went to collect or buy weapons and put them in a guitar case. He runs into a friend of his Arnie.

And this Arnie is nosy. He is asking too many goddamn questions. I get that Sam has been away and he misses him but the questions are just too much.

Helen took a hard drive hidden in a wall in Jason’s flat. She has been going through it and she found a number.

Helen’s husband might be cheating on her as well with his new assistant Dani.

I guess, neither of them gave a damn about their marriage vows.

Sam went to inspect the area where Jason was shot and he found a bullet casing there. He took the casing to Georgina to run it for fingerprints.

Sam tried to make small talk with this woman and she couldn’t muster a smidgen of a fuck to give.

She was straight up emotionless. Even stoic Sam was stunned by it.

Helen gave the number to Mrs Reed to run it and see who it belonged to:

Sam is having dinner with Arnie and Arnie’s husband, Zack and they are trying to encourage Sam to get together with his ex-boyfriend, Michael.

I wonder why? Why do they want them to reunite so desperately?

Georgina checked the bullet casing and found a match.

Jason’s shooter was a person named Elmore Fitch.

Mrs Reed was also able to trace the number Jason was calling and it belonged to the daughter of the late Chinese Ambassador. Her name is Kai-Ming Chen.

Kai-Ming Chen is missing. She hasn’t been seen since her father passed away.

Why is it bigger? What was Jason doing? Was he also a spy? I need answers!

Black Doves Episode 2

A 2014 Helen flashback.

Her name was Daisy Bradshaw and she went for a job interview where the man was just asking her deep questions about her life.

He then refers her to Reed with the message: I think I have found a little black dove.

Mrs Reed explained how Black Dove operates. They are a private spy organisation that sells information to the highest bidder.

Daisy is also not her real name.

So what is her real name? She is not Helen, she is not Daisy, what is she then? Are we ever going to find out in this series?

Also, the way Mrs Reed was talking about how Daisy/Helen is very calculated and what-what was very fantastical.

It was in Black Doves, that Daisy Bradshaw became Helen Dawson.

She was sent to retrieve secrets from Wallace Webb when he was a new politician.

Poor Wallace, his wife doesn’t give a damn about him. I wonder how he would react when he finds out that his wife is not who he thought she was.

Helen and Sam went to meet Elmore Fitch in his flat but there was nobody there. It was a trap.

Elmore followed Helen home to retrieve a small recording device.

That was why they killed Jason. So you mean to tell me that these idiots didn’t try to get the recording device first before killing Jason and his friends?

Helen was able to kill Elmore Fitch in her shed.

All that fighting and commotion happened in that house, her husband did not even wake up once to find out. That man can sleep through an earthquake.

I wonder if Helen drugs him every night because the way he sleeps is not normal.

So Sam has a lot of baggage. He owes an old lady called Lenny.

She asked him to kill a certain Hector and Sam failed to do so. Those girls who killed Jason’s landlady work for Lenny.

Lenny threatened to kill Sam’s ex-boyfriend Michael and Michael’s daughter.

The funniest thing however is that Sam doesn’t know that Lenny has given him a tip to find the Chinese ambassador’s daughter.

How did she end up in Hector’s drug den in the first place because he was surprised to find out that she was the late Chinese ambassador’s daughter. Or is he a human trafficker and wanted to sell her as a sex slave but struck gold?

What exactly is going on?

Why is Wallace suspicious of this guy?

Mrs Reed asked Helen if she told Jason about her job as a spy for Black Doves and Helen said no.

She lied.

Sam went to Hector’s place and somebody had already been there. All of Hector’s men are dead

However, the good thing was that Sam found out that Hector was with Kai-Ming Chen.

A win is a win.

Final Thoughts

I don’t know what is going on in this show. Maybe by episode 3, something will click.
