William Lee killed Eugene Allerton in Queer (2024)

When Lee went to Ship Ahoy, he met his friend, Joe Guidry who told him that Allerton went to South America with a colonel.

Guidry stated that Allerton said he would stop to see Lee, who was in South America at the time.

Ever since Allerton left for South America, no one has seen him ever since.

Then that night, Lee had a dream where he killed Allerton and years later Lee dies crying filled with pain and probably regret.

Here is why I think Lee killed Allerton

Allerton disappeared. No one has seen him ever since.

Lee is prone to do really crazy and desperate things while he is under the influence.

Lee was modelled after the author William Burroughs. Through Lee, Burroughs was able to be his true self.

In his writings, Burroughs was strictly gay, almost proudly, he was a writer, obsessed with finding Yage and an unapologetic junkie.

Burroughs murdered his common-law wife Joan Vollmer the exact same way Lee dreamt he killed Allerton.

Also, that gun was a character in itself.

So no, Allerton is not alive

He is not in some country living it up with a wife or the colonel. Allerton is dead.

Lee throughout the movie, was shown to be an obsessive creep with little to no respect for personal space and boundaries.

Lee wanted to live inside of Allerton’s skin. If he couldn’t have Allerton, nobody could.

…and he made sure of that.

Final Thoughts

Queer was a biography. Lee and Allerton’s bizarre relationship mirrored Burroughs and Vollmer’s relationship.

I didn’t like the movie. There was nothing particularly interesting about it. I think it was draining to watch.

It was a 2 over 5 for me.
